US Dollar vs. South African Rand
In the late 50's to early 60's, the Rand was founded and remains the legal tender for Swaziland, South Africa, Namibia, and Lesotho. Shifting away from the Pound, the Rand is known for its volatility, as the currency greatly depreciated after the apartheid-era sanctions. The Rand is on track to prosper once investors are ready to handle more risk in still-developing nations. As seen during the financial crisis of 2008, any risk withdrawal from international markets pushes the Rand substantially lower.
